Good Samaritan Yesterday and My A-NOD Action Today

Today is 3/14/26, Pi Day.

We, my older brother Robert, my mom, and I, as A-NOD, took the bottles and cans to Hy-Vee to recycle. While there, we saw an older man sitting on the window ledge inside the Recycling Station. We put 3 totes of bottles and cans into the machine, and then my mom noticed that he was asking if we could give him some of our bottles and cans. I had a sense that he was deaf because he put his finger up to his ear and did the thing to sign that he was deaf. And then told me that is what he told her as well, after she had seen him ask for two bottles that did not go into the machine.

And as good Samaritans we are, we gave him some, and then we put the rest of our bottles and cans in the machine, and we got money for it. But then later, Mom says that he wrote to her on his notepad saying that he needed a brace for his leg and his knee, that he was cold and tired of it being that way, and she gave me $5 to give to the man.

So I went in, and gave him the $5, and he took out a small notebook, and wrote "Don't worry, I" and I couldn't read his handwriting other than that, but then I wrote, "No, I insist". Then he took the money and thanked me, then I gave him a hug, waved goodbye, and went to our car to go to GreenState to cash out our coins.

Afterwards, we went to Casey's to get a snack, and I got donuts for the family, where the cashier gave us the change for the donuts when mom didn't have enough.

This is how A-NOD helps people in need, Light from Light to enlighten others.
