A-NOD Travels to Urbandale Library

On April 27th, A-NOD Traveled to the Urbandale Library. The Workers Showed us where to go, and we set everything up. More people came and set their things up. Michael hid a small stuffed elephant in the room somewhere for people to find and said, "You have 10 seconds to find the elephant in the room." The staff and the sensory patrons did not understand if we had an actual, physical elephant in the room. Or just a sentence to say out loud. And that was the nature of the room. When a person says, "There is an elephant in the room. What does that mean to you?" The responses we got tonight. Were, "I can't see it, do you mean an actual elephant in the room?" "Oh look, there is an elephant in the room and lonely in the corner, I think I understand this game, but.. you tell me what you mean." Sometimes the elephant is right in front of you, but you still can't see it. And when the elephant was finally found, it was a game-changer and a conversation starter. It made all the difference.

This then helped people ask what A-NOD is. And the thing on our table pointed to what A-NOD resources can do in their role when speaking about Situational Awareness. The things on our table were: A-NOD Jr's, an A-NOD Mug, an A-NOD Hat, Business Cards, a basket full of Dum-Dums, our Tumbler, and a clipboard with a sheet.
